Headed South with Family and Friends.
Not long back from the family holiday down the coast with the Maltese Falcon and his family, a little place called Tathra.
Not so much as a fishing holiday but a time to chill and enjoy each other’s company.
Fishing was involved but so was drinking, swimming, poking around and just having a good time in a relaxed coastal environment.
First afternoon down there we had a quick swim to refresh then thought we would have a bit of an explore. The Falcon had heard of a track down to Nelson Lagoon that you may get a boat in. This area we love to fish but up to that time its all been land based, wading the flats, throwing plastics and Hard bodies for the normal culprit’s. So we dropped my car and the wives at home and headed off in the Cruiser to inspect the lost world.
Well … at the end of the track we took the low road where we should have taken the high road.
Had it down to the diff and it wasn’t going anywhere, plus we had taken every thing out of the car that we could use, as we weren’t expecting anything this dramatic.

We gathered up so sticks to jam under the wheels but that failed.
Attachment 36400
So the Falcon dragged out the Jack, which but that failed to get the car up far enough to lift the wheel off the ground to wedge anything under them. But enough to jamb a log under the spare wheel that gave us a bit of a head start on the next lift.
Attachment 36401
We let the jack down and used another log to start the process all over again.
Attachment 36402
That worked getting the vehicle high enough now to jamb some timber under the wheels.
So, a bit of toing a froing and hard pushing out came the vehicle. We put a log over the offending track to stop any one else making the same mistake.

So we’d only been down there a couple of hours and already had a great holiday adventure.
When we got back to the house the girls had settled down to a wine or two asking us how we went.
Unfortunately a big Low Pressure had settled off the NSW Coast and that stopped Rock fishing, Beach fishing and General boating because of the Seas and the Wind.
Down at the Boat ramp the fish-cleaning table was empty other than a Lonely Cormorant

And resting Seagulls.
Attachment 36405
The Sea was angry. This was coming thru the entrance to the boat ramp.
Attachment 36406
Did a few touristy trips while waiting for the weather to calm down.
One place we called in on was Horse Head Rock
Attachment 36407
Horse Head Rock is near Camel rock that when we drove down the Highway had opened a Brewery. You beaut …. But alas had only just opened and hadn’t started brewing yet. Reminded me of the Pub with no Beer.
Also there’s lots of small Estuary’s that look a picture.
Attachment 36408
Finally the weather cleared and everyone and their dog wanted to go.
Attachment 36409
So off with Wife and Daughter for a fish in a pretty little Estuary.
Wife with a Bream.

Then a nice Ting
Attachment 36411

Now back at the ramp we spy this critter. Later identified as a Moon-Headed Side Gilled Slug. Pfffft and Didley said I should get out more.

First feed of fish
Attachment 36418
So another day out with the Falcon and his son. This is a famous Oyster estuary. Shallow but holds a good quantity of Bread and Butter fish.
Getting bait first.
Attachment 36419
Just enjoying it.
Attachment 36420
Even I caught a Bream.
Attachment 36421
Sam with a Flatty
Attachment 36422
Down towards the entrance. Bloody nice and virtually no one around.
Attachment 36423
Cleaning the fish. The Pelicans were making a heart with their beaks.
Attachment 36424
So the last chance we were able to get out 4 of us headed down towards the entrance to the Bega River. Again bloody picturesque.
Attachment 36425
Sorry about the funny rods but this was taken on an IPhone in Panoramic mode.
Attachment 36426
Luderick were taking Nippers, not unusual down that way.
