60cm red club!
Well what a trip and a half!
The day started off like crap, overcast, windy, cold showers at times and I was ready to tell Steve not to bother coming down after work... (thank god I didn't)
The target species was going to be bass but with all the rain around we decided to give the tarpon ago with the forcast being sunny :???: When I got to my herring spot they were not there either was mullet or glassies:( Couldn't find any bait to net at all which put the pressuse on big time!
Steve arrived just before dark and I had the burley trail working well and catching a couple of mullet on light gear for fun. A couple of drinks later Steve gets a quick run and a tarpon jumps and spits the hook mid flight. A few minutes later my rod goes flying into the drink like no tomorrow and so did I! Somehow I magaged to grab it a few metres out from the bank only to pull in a little bloody butter bream! :snicker: Good bye mobile.
A few more pickers and Steve dropped what we called another tarpon, time to get serious. Not long after that and a few pointers for Steve ( :snicker: ) he hooked up to another tarpon and landed it, his first! Congrats mate.
OK I really get serious this time  my 4lb(mono) outfit gets a screaming run and I was on! Run after run this thing had us guessing the whole time, going by google it would have had about 60-70m of line out :54_002: I could just lift it on the light gear, could not belive the weight behind it. After about 15min I landed my PB jack at 62cm! WooHoo :dribble::dribble::dribble:
The rest of the night is a blur.... I think Steve landed a 69cm flattie and a small bream (sh!t fish :snicker: )

Cool, that's what I wanted to hear. Could you put in a good word 4 me at the club, I'm going to be a member very soon.;)

Yeah I guess I can..... ;)
I still remember reading your post and geckos on these fish on another forum and would dream about catching a 50cm one, well I done that in my first season but though I was lucky getting a 54cm. However I never thought I'd get a 62cm in my 2nd season!

Bloody good fish Mick, well done!
On 4lb mono, that's a brilliant effort!
Did you get him off the sand?
Jeff.
