New season jacks
Well, I've been seeing a lot of jacks are getting caught on the Facebook pages, so I thought i better see what i could muster up down the Gold Coast way. With river fire on in Brisbane I thought I'd better head off early and miss the traffic snarls around the freeway in the city.
I got to the boat ramp around 4 ish and through lures till dark, then tracked down some dinner at subway. Took some time to fill the livie bucket then settled in for the tide to empty out, around 12.30 was low and the early night was very boring with only a catfish to pother the scorer. Around 10 pm was the first Jack and it was a nice model at 56.5 cm followed by an other about a half hour latter. I thought, at this stage things were going to go off with the low tide coming up but it wasn't to be with just a nice Jewy being the only other scorer before stumps at 1.30ish. Water temp was 21 degrees and a cool breeze blowing, so early season yet, who knows what the year will bring. I'm a little concerned about the number of anglers out there chasing Mr Jack with all this interweb hype. All fish released.
