Tin Can Bay running commentary

Good morning friends,
today is brought to you from a sunny Tin can bay, a quick couple days recovery after our annual country music festival. Very few photos from there will ever see the light of day. Anyways, after a false start and having to head back home yesterday for a couple things the I walked a couple pots out the front of the house, with little hope of success but like jode said “they aren’t gonna catch anything under the house. Pretty sure she just wanted some peace and quiet. Anyways, up early this morning, walked down to check them, and Lo and behold, two nice bucks, both good crabs. Cheer in’.

loading up Belle now, to go rebait the pots and have a quick flick before the wind gets up. Jodes is going to school Bonnie for a while, but that’s for the next chapter. Stay tuned.

That’s Livin Chewy recovery in action

So today was the new pups first ride in the boat. To say I was apprehensive would be an understatement. What is clear is that we basically have adopted a rescue dog. Jodes working wonders and today was a great experience. We got a few squid thanks to a heads up from Apollo. Checked the pots and got a couple more good ones. They are clean crab, but heavy and full, which ya seem to get a few this time of year. Heading out solo tomorrow morning.

Looks like all is enjoying life and that’s what it’s about. Good stuff Chewy and Co.

Living the life the way it's meant to be. Wish my boss would let me move that way but she's stubborn. She claims she is in walking distance to every medical specialist, I keep telling her she won't need them if we moved.

Are the prawns running there Chewy?

Seen a few small prawns, they don’t seem to get big lots here. I don’t think there’s enough run to be honest.

So today saw me out early, breakky pie and coffee from the bakery, heading north to check out a couple small creeks. Pretty shallow, lost one small jack, no run in the tide. Had a look up one of the bigger creeks. Massive school of Barra, but couldn’t tempt them in ten minutes so moved on. Wanted a feed so stopped. Couple squid. Half a dozen sand whiting about 28-30 in a foot of gin clear water. Had a couple more casts. Saw this thing eat my yabbie. Not great on 6lb mono. Turned out to be a pretty nice flatty. Nearly 70. Couple pics and released. Or so I thought. She/he didn’t fight heaps, and just didn’t release. I left it for 15 minutes. Pushed and prodded to try get it to swim. Towed it. Nothing. It just kept sinking to the bottom. Way bigger than I normally keep but she’s dinner. Felt a bit shit but I tried my best to revive her. No eggs at least. I dunno what was wrong. Got another crab so winning.
Most of today was on video so will do a clip up next week when we get home.
