The JO bycatch..
After spending about 12 hours casting at and unhooking trees with a few good bumps and one flatty to show for my efforts I was feeling pretty defeated. We headed out again early in the morning to glare at the snags and try hitting some underwater structure... First drift in slight tap hook up heavy headshakes a quick powerfull run and a thrown hook.. I was pretty gutted. We drifted a few more times and bump heavy headshakes silver fish rushed too the surface for a little leap * WTF a barra * as soon as I saw that I backed the drag off a bit and it had some fun with me, Short but powerful runs. I now know what the barra craze is about....Simply unreal
Now I know its closed season for barra but we pulled it out for literally a minute for a quick photo and a measure as it was my first wild barra. ( sure beats the barra farm :P ) It swam off very happily which was good. But I can remove pictures if need be. I am just stoked and like sharing pictures..

Awesome fish mate, congratulations, you pair certainly did the hard yards..I will ring my mate in the fisheries tomorrow and get the word from the horses mouth, but just read up on the Deedi page i think on that they would be hard pressed to do anything.particularly with a fish not of breeding size.

Nice. Gotta be happy with that!
Looks like last wet seasons floods have done wonders for the river. Great winter with the Trevs and now the Barra and Threadies showing up.
Good to see.
