Mate if there is only two lures to have in your box in the mary it is the Jazz 110 mm deep diving in pearl /white Color s & shallow depending on depth and the classic lure manta ray model in purples they both have accounted for big fish Color in mantas depends on clarity purples my fave but they all work they have a great slow rise , the new raptor trebles are a good addition nice and strong and don't bloody rust . Fishermans corner in bay has great selection
Wow, wow, wow. That's about all I got.....Wow.. :54_002: Well done mate and congrats to your Deckie.
Hey Al, congrats again on 2 awesome fish.
Any chance of some feedback on the Raotors? I've been looking at them on line, what do you think? Are they heavier gauge than St66, stickier, etc etc? Is the size same as the Owners?
At the moment B I love em no bloody rust to start with very strong ,nice sharp points and sticky . They gave a nice circle like shape to them as well they handled the thready with ease no bending
Great fish mate, good stuff.
Brilliant effort boys
Couple of great fish there Al.
What you've got there Al is an escapee from Awoonga. If he was still in a good paddock like Awoonga maybe I'd agree with your estimate of 70- 80 lbs.
However, he's been out for a while and on a Jenny Craig diet ever since so he's slimmed a bit but still has a bit of a spare tyre around the belly.
A 120cm wild barra goes 22-25kg, so I'd give this one maybe 30 kg.
Still a big fish though. Welcome to the 1.3m club.
That fish may have changed into a female after being in the salt for a while but probably not.
Three things have to happen before a male barra goes female. Firstly they have got to be salt water and secondly they have to have taken part in at least 1 spawning (usually when they're 60cm or so) and thirdly have to be in the size range to later change. I understand that range to be 85-95cm.
This guy wouldn't have taken part in any spawnings (the first requirement). At 60cm he'd have still been in Awoonga. At 85-95cm he'd have still be in Awoonga as well.
I think those requirements are general rather than specific. I guess you always can get exceptions.
ALL barra in impoundments are male for those reasons so this one is probably still male.
Any tag?
