Trace and I got out briefly this morning. It was beautiful out there and surprisingly few other boats around (pretty much Funchy and his dogs, and almost no one else).
The fishing was pretty hard work and we had to cover a fair bit of territory...maybe everyone else knew something that we didn’t.
We nailed 4 or 5 throwback flatties and just one keeper of just over 50cm (and quite lean) which will be dinner.
It’s really good to get out though, we are LOVING being back fishing.

I wonder if it's the lack of fresh in the systems. Good feed anyway.
Can only hope they are hungry on tuesday.

I'm going to give it a go in the morning, last chance before my life is not my own, daughter has bought a house that needs some work. I figure being mid week they'll be back out after hiding from Funchy.

Got out this morning as planned nice and early, surprised that with the weather forecast there weren't more boats out and about. Started of a bit slow as we investigsted some new ground and when not even a touch went over some previously good flattie country and my brother picked up the first fish of the day at 47 cm but not a touch after that. Came back towards another spot that should produce on an outgoing tide where I picked up a 48cm and my brother followed with a 50m. Between us we got a couple of rats as well but the session lasted maybe 20 mins then it went totally dead, tried a few more places then decided to call it quits and go home. Nice day out on the water with only a couple of boats and even fewer jetskis and even these behaved themselves.
Well, that sounds like a great morning and a good feed as a result. Good work!
