    Default Fishing up North QLD

Hi guys just a quick report of what i got up to this weekend.

Got an invite by a mate if i wanted to go out his in plate master over night up Fraser somewhere. Leaving in the afternoon we arrived in an area hoping to get mackerel on bait or spoons. I was the only one who got a 61cm one and a few squire(legal). After the bite was going slow my mate Logan convinced his dad to travel up to Lady Eliot and stay the night there. I took over and became the skipper of the boat traveling hours to Lady Eliot, As we where 100m away from it we seemed to be the only one in the area. Anchored up and fished on a drop. Using squid i caught my first red throat emperor going at 36cm and many more reef fish. As everyone was getting hammed by the fish everywhere i scored a lovely 61cm red bass WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A JACK AT THE START! but wasn't. Was sadly disappointing but was fun to catch.

The next day there wasn't much that was caught in early morning besides trigger fish and small reef species. By 8ish we started to head back to the bay stopping by places. Got my first ever tea leaf trevally at the bottom. We were running low on fuel so we had to stop fishing and really start to head back! We had a really good run when the fuel gauge was showing no fuel but then we stopped only 50m away 9mile which was our last place to fish before hitting home. Anchored up and contacting the harbor to send someone to drag us back, arrived home lowly but safely.

sorry dont have many photos as we were busy baiting our lines when the fish where hot

    cheers JT

Sounds like a good trip Jamie.

    Pretty sure it's a Black-tipped Rockcod.

We get heaps of small ones out off Noosa.
