The break wall is quite a good spot, depending on the tide a little wading around the flats chasing a few flathead. Lots of areas to fish on the side of the river. But if after anything of size and you don't have a boat. These would be the best. Only travel down there occassionaly doing Dept of Veterans course, always take a rod and Gods were kind on a fair few trips. Do a Google earth and you will find heaps of accessible places to fish.

should be bream and blackfish along the wall with the chance of a jew at night. The wall near the caravan park can fire but gets crowded if the fish are on.If you take the ferry over to the north side and drive back towards the mouth you may find it more comfortable. If you have a boat then Limeburners creek would be worth a look around the oyster leases. The beaches and headlands could provide bream, drummer and tailor with jew a chance here as well.
    Cheers, Mick

The ferry that Mick mentioned put you on the road to Crescent Head via Point Plomber, dirt but 2WD. Plenty of beach fishing options and some sweet surf spots if u r inclined.
