Gday all,
Just got back from Yamba, I arrived there last night near 11pm (spur of the moment trip). Originally I was going to head on Monday, but I had some free time today so I thought ah why not..
The night started out slow, I fished at the bridge just near the Oyster channel first off. Not much happened there, plenty of mullet flicking but nothing was interested in my plastics and I had no cast net to get some live mullet.
So I ventured down to the marina, I started off with shrimp placcies, one good hit and instant slack line.. bloody tailor... re-tie, first cast, whack, slack.. ahhh dear.. So I went with a wriggler next on a 1/20th Nitro jig head, few casts later and whack, this time it stayed on. Pulled up a little Long nose Trev? Not 100% on the exact trev..
I dropped another 2 bigger ones after that and got bricked in a big way on the 4lb...
By now it was late, so I headed off to somewhere quiet and retired in the back of the Navara for the night.
I must have been comfy, I didn't wake until 9am this morn
Which was ok, just about the top of the tide. I tried another spots to see if I could find a jew on the slack of the tide... nope..
After lunch time I headed down to Pelican Island to attempt a flatty, a few casts in, bam I am on! I could feel the head shakes, it was what I was after... even if slightly smaller then preferred A few casts later and I was onto a much better specimen, I had him within reaching distance and he decided to be camera shy and quick released himself
Anyhow it went pretty quiet after that for a couple of hours, I did more walking and exploring than casting. But I managed a couple more little tackers around that 35 mark.
I may not have got too many but it has been a while since I last flicked in the salt, so it was great just to be out there! The weather also played nice, sat around 20 degrees today, got back to Glencoe -5 at 7pm
I shall bore you no more, here are a couple of pics!
