Got a 45.5cm Jack this arvo in the same area I recaptured another tagged jack last year. I will keep you all posted on the details when I get them from Fisheries. Tag numbers are different- so not the same fish.

That's cool! Looking forward to seeing the data that comes back about him.
Homeless, jobless and living out of a car..........bring on the good life
Hey mate dont be suprised if the data really astounds you. Meaning that it may have travelled a huge distance. I had tagged barra in my previous job that moved out of the Fitzroy River (Rockhampton) and swam 100-150kms south and entered the Boyne River (Gladstone) and caught years later. Keep us posted
Lovely Jack by the way
Luke, some of the data can be pretty cool. The one I got last year was tagged many years ago and had grown 15cm but hadnt moved.
We have had stacks of billfish recaptures over the years, I even recaught one of my own black marlin I had tagged 3 weeks earlier.
The same with a whiting I tagged, I recaught it a week later.
Goes to show that releasing fish is worth while!
nice looking jack jeffo
shane
Did you find him on the new through hull transducer lol.
Nice jack Jeffo.
I had a barra recapture reported to me a bit earlier this year. I tagged one at 44cm in the Haughton River south of Townsville back in August 2010. It was re-captured at Wunjunga Beach 110kms further south in June 2012. By then it had grown to 62cm. Unfortnately he was not as lucky second time round and was kept for a feed.
I've also tagged a couple of jacks but so far no re-captures.....
Cheers,
Roo.
nice jack there jeffo, you are the tagged fish magnet...
Experience is something you dont get untiljust after you need it.
Well done great looking jack . I would be keen to know how far he has traveled or if hes held area through the year from where he was last taged.
Be interested to know for sure i guess he may have moved and came back to the same snag which would be hard to tell but wow the fact and detaisl you can learn from that fish are awsome .
Fishing bring it on no matter the type .
