    Default Hervey Bay Holiday

Hi All, Just back from eight days up there on the school holidays. The wind was a menace, and we only got in two quality boating days.

Both days we mixed it up with Whale watching, playing on the beach, swimming, exploring and of course fishing.

We had one hot session on flathead, the rest of the time it was hit and miss. We missed out on quality whiting this trip, plenty of undersized. We didn't get missed by green sea toads and stingrays. A bit of fun for the kids, but not what I was after. I got one little queenie that went nuts, I handed the rod over to Nick and it jumped three times, and played up.

As the kid get older, boating is getting easier, and my wife is able to get back into the fishing a bit. She caught five or six flattys on Gulp minnows, and the young fella got a few as well. The little one even got a couple of flathead (assisted by dad).

We had a great holiday despite the wind, fortunately the beach is quite protected from the South Easters, so we spent a fair bit of time there. Good break! we are back into school and work again, well rested and refreshed.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Hi Matt, thats not the same tinny I saw you in a few years ago, did you upgrade? The weather has been crap, but at least the beach is good in SEers. How far did you go to see whales? That would take over an hour each way?

Good on ya Mat. Looks like you have your hands full mate with three little tackers.

Is that the 4B the idiots drove in the drink following the GPS?

    Nice shallow reef hey.

Glad you managed a few nice days out on the water with the family Matt - we have had a tough run of N-NW'ers which are the worst for the bay
