I can never get proper hooks sets into my whiting, it definantly does help to not strike though. And as mentioned don't stop retrieve even if you get hit.

Thats another good point, don't strike! Just let the whiting suck the popper under and let the rod load up. Sometimes you will miss hook sets. But the ones that really want it will hook up easily. 9 times out of 10 typical hookup is for them to suck in the rear treble. And as mentioned buy cpl others don't stop after a hit they often come back for another go .
Fishing. Its only an addiction if your trying to quit!

Ok fellas, thanks a heap for all your help. After work today I picked up some WTD clear lures, loaded up the 6lb nanofil with a short 12lb mono leader and will be loosening the drag, applying a constant retreive and bagging out. Sorted!!! Stay tuned.

So am I Mick, getting the ute serviced in the morning.

Great read and thread guys, Thanks to all who posted. I've caught a few on poppers in the past but it's great to read what others are do'in.

Best of luck tomorrow Funchy, here's hoping you get both wiped off the bucket list.

    Cheers Dave
