    Default Overnighting In The Straits?

    If i rolled out the swag (Southern Cross dome swag with good mesh) in the boat over night, would I get smashed by sand flies?

    Very strong possibility Brian,but pain is temporary.lol.It would depend when and where,I know guys that camp at German and they don't always get clobbered.Chewy shall be your guide here.

    out in the open you may not be to bad after the sun sets in the creeks you may get some tho

    mate you'll be fine, especially if you go somewhere where there is a little breeze . also you can get mozzie coils that come ina a little tin that you can use to quite good effect. maybe just keep it away from your fuel...

    We camped in the mid straits last weekend for two nights. Yeap, there were sandflies. I sleeped in a swag with a mesh front and Mark used a swag similar to yours. Both of us had no issues. We used either bushmans or a brew of baby oil, dettol and metho in a 1/1/1 mix. I had no issues with sandfly bights overnight and Mark came through fairly well also. We were camped on the bank amoungst the mangroves.

    Now, I'm not saying we should invoke capital punishment for Stupidity, but how about we just take all the warning labels off everything and let nature sort itself out?
