    Default Flattys amongst the flotilla

The tinny was in disarray as I am preparing to mount the I Pilot so took the yak out this morning. Launched at Bells Creek at 4am to a beautiful sunrise and flicked around the weed beds for a couple of undersize flattys. Decided to move so I paddled down to the Jew hole trolling one of my fav lures trying to entice a flatty to no avail. Drifted down around that end throwing SP's for nuthin. Then peak hour started with tinnys and ski boats and Jet Skis all decending on the passage so I thought bugger it I will go up in the shallows behind the islands. Paddled past about 3 boats all fishing the drop off in the gap of the islands and got into the weeds in about 30cms of water. Threw out a 5inch Gulp Crazy legs in New Penny and slowly worked my way into the gap. About 80 metres in the rod loads up and the Crazy Legs is devoured There is line peelin off at a rate of knots as the fish started splishin and a splashin! Made a hell of a ruckus in the shallows. I could feel the line rubbing on the fish's mouth and was worried I would lose it. Finally got the fish to the yak, a nice 66cm flatty. Netted it just as the line went ping!

The freezer is empty at the moment so this one was coming home. Kept working my SP's up in behind the islands. Got a couple more under size fellas. Plenty of bait fish working around the weed in behind there and actually drifted up on a flatty who seemed to be on a Sunday drive just cruising around .... until he spotted the yak and then he was gorn! Ended up scoring a 50cm flat one just as I was heading in. He took a 3inch grub tailed minnow in banana prawn.

Not a bad day on the water at all. Will cook these puppies up tonight in egg and bread crumbs with a tossed salad and caesar dressing.

Nice one Funchy. Good way to finnish off the year, (maybe) still 2 days to go. All the best for 2013 and keep the reports coming. And congrats on the red one earlier, still searching for my first.
