Maybe reduce the size of the original mate before you try to insert it.

As Daryl said try reducing the sizes of your image first.

Personelly l like to download them through 'Photobucket'. But you do have to set up an account first, and download all your pics on there. THere has been some improvement made on there recently which gives oyu loads more editing options.
