You are very lucky that a jack hit in the rod holder and was still there........ Super lucky. Most manage to drop the hook when the rod bounces. Genesis, yours is coming mate, just put in the hours.

Thanks Andrew, it was a long time coming. I'm hearing you on the rod in the holder department and a couple of years ago I would of had to agree with you, but I'm now using circle hooks on every thing from whiting to moby dick and once they latch on I haven't lost a fish to hooks falling out. 99% hooked in the mouth or the hinge of the jaw and very easily removed so they can swim another day.
