Yea I'm a bit confused too.
I always thought you couldn't own anything "past" the high water mark of tidal waters or rivers. So basically everything should be public waters, except the actual pontoon.
Does it depend on the system?

A few years ago had a friend (old Merv) that had items thrown at him from a wharf, so he rang the police, which came and wanted to get the fellow charge with attempted murder. He stated that if the object hit him in the head he could have fallen in the water and drowned.
    Shut the bast@#d up.

Sanctuary cove Canals are private property, most are not I don't know how they get that status but they have it. Only residence are allowed in there, by road it is also a gated community.

Haha, that actually happened to Mick Geary once except the bloke came out of his house on Noosa Sound in the nude and started spraying Mick with the garden hose! wanker.
He was also screaming they are his pets, ''I feed them every day'' etc.
I actually trolled up a nice estuary cod in front of his jetty, he was questioning me as to keeping it or not. After a short terse discussion with this wanker I let the fish go, I didn't need the flack. Who do they think they are?

Another time, Nick and I were fishing around the charter boats at Noosa one day when the owner of one of the boats threatened us with ''don't you clowns hit my boat'', ''f@#$ off away from the jetty'' etc. etc., I gave him a mouthfull and took off.

But, me being me, returned one morning, dropped a huge number two and threw it onto the deck of his charter boat. Shit went everywhere!!
Arse hole he was, no one talks to me like that and gets away with it.

We felt quite chuffed after that!

I fish canals fairly regularly and see some funny people out there. Most of them are friendly but I have seen many run out and tell me about there pets and throw bread to get them away from my lure. Though a couple of the older blokes throw bread and and tell me to watch the big boys come smash the bread. I think my most favorite time was when this W**k came out tell me his pets were to smart for lures and they are well trained... I was rather amused when I smashed a 36 forker bream from his jettie in front of him .

I live on a canal and unfortunately not seen anyone fish it yet to run out and tell them about my pets
