    Default Yarlubbiiin the Gneerings

My normal Deckie rang me wed or thursday night and said sorry I am out for the weekend Family committments so I thought I would go to Scarborough and buzz the Yak brigade for the morning for something to do,but then.

Thursday night i am watching telly and the mobile rings and Tim say what you doing Saturday ,do you want to come to the gneerings,Yep was the reply what time we leaving oh 3.30am he said ,Crap I had better come up and stay at your place for the night.

ended up leaving at 3.45am with Tims mate Neil in tow as well launched at 4.30 am just before the charge of boats arrived ,we got to the mouth of the river looking for swell but it was dead flat so we had a great run out to the gneerings first few drifts were a bit quite until the crack of dawn ( unfortunely not the only crack that we got to see on the boat this morning) however it was the key to get the fish biting with a few nice sweetlip coming on board as well as the odd undersize snapper quite a few of those black tip orange cod looking things, a 43cm maorie cod(returned) 2 x 30cm moses perch and 2 nice parrot,

Tim also hooked onto a nice octopuss that had another mate follow him up and a huge squid you may be able to make them out in the photo.

I was also burning my hook (with a bit of mullet skin on)back from the bottom after losing my bait when it got molested halfway back and after a 3 minute fight ended up pulling the hook on what was probably a kingy or tuna.
we decided to call it quits just before 11am and troll a slug backhome, halfway in the westerly kick in at about 20kn but was still a nice day on the water with 8 keepers including a stonker grassy

Good on you Shane. Scratched a feed of reefies up.
Now, I'm not saying we should invoke capital punishment for Stupidity, but how about we just take all the warning labels off everything and let nature sort itself out?

Mods, I need to report an un-acceptable photo!

Nice feed mate, its a good option this time of year, especially on the light change

Pity I had to get the daughter to the airport. But at least I had fun doing the lawns.
