Nice to be able to put up a positive report for the weekends activities, plus a laugh at my expense.
Friday night I fished solo at a spot that has been yielding plenty of small Jew, it was a good night with a few around to keep me occupied. By the time I got back to the ramp, about 9.30 the tide was running quite strongly, as I walked down the trailer to hook the boat on I slipped and went down, the only thing not wet was my beanie. It was a cold drive home.
Saturday night with a high at 8.30 Rob and I chose another spot, hoping for a bigger model. Good shows of very nervous bait had us feeling positive.
I hooked a good fish after about half an hour, 4 inch Hollowbelly,that made a good account of itself before chewing through the leader.I was duly chastised for only having 20lb leader.
Soon after, I heard a low grunt followed by a screaming drag as Rob set to work on a nice fish. These fish sure no how to pull but with a bit of chasing we soon had her on the deck.Rob Jew Sat.jpg
A bit after that I got my second shot, this one really gave the drag on the Stradic a work out but after some coaching and fancy work on the electric I had a cuddle with a real nice onePete Jew.jpgPete Jew 2.jpg
The only option we had was to go again last night. Slower start until the bait came through. Rob was persisting with a Hardbody and was eventually rewarded with another nice specimen.Jew 013.jpg
None for me but that was OK, it had been a great weekend with a good mate and one ticked off the bucket list.
