Kyle and I hit Goat Island pre-dawn on Saturday morning. Things got off to a bad start when Kyle hooked-up to a big snapper only to loose contact after my lure got tangled in his line and that gave the fish enough slack to throw the lure.
Fortunately (for me!) he hooked-up again soon after and began a long tussle with a fish that just put its head down and ran for deeper water. With a long ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Kyle thought he was going to get spooled so I chased on the electric until Kyle felt that the fish was tiring.
Eventually he got line back and gradually worked the fish to the boat. A few minutes later I got in a great netshot and Kyle's new PB of 59cm of snapper came aboard. We let out a few woohoos - one aimed directly at some moron that motored 10m past us with his two banger while we were in stealth mode in 2m of water! Caught on 4lb Fins PRT braid with 12lb Black Magic fluorocarbon leader. Lure was a silver Luckycraft Bevy Shad 60mm suspender...
The rest of the morning was hard work for a few more undersize snaps for both of us, a small bream to Kyle and two tailor to me. A tough but rewarding morning on glorious Moreton Bay...
All fished released to catch another day.
Cheers
Pete
