Had a good weekend out on the water, spent Saturday fishing the tidal reaches of fitzroy.
Got a late start at about 10am though it didn't take long to find a few barra. Though was a different story actually getting them in the boat, for a while we couldn't buy a fish.
The first five were lost boat side and the sixth managed to find cover. Though after this finally got in the rhythm of things and went on to land about the same number of fish that we had lost.
Fish landed were not huge, anywhere between 490mm and 670mm though had a ball. Fish were caught on a variety of lures.
Sunday we had five hours up our sleeve so we decided to head up into the fresh part of the fitzroy above the barrage to have an explore. This was the first time I have been up river, all looks like it has potential but need a bit more time to find a few fish. The water was like pea soup in spots but still managed to pull a couple of rather large catfish on the old atomic prong out of the timber on light gear which was still good fun.
Thanks for reading.
