Default Im such a slow learner..

    a4.jpg

So sitting around last night, after a massive feed of chinese last night, i nearly decided to not even launch the boat and do battle with the holiday crowds, and eventually decided to stay in the straights, so 4 am saw me up and having a coffee deciding where to launch, and another hour saw me pushing the boat into the dark pre dawn waters of the Mary, stopping to grab a couple quick pics as i pushed down the river, glad now id donned long pants and a jumper as the temperature plummeted to a chilly 14 degrees. Arriving at ungowa i was greeted with the sight of some trevally busting up,so i threw a popper to no avail for a bit. Here is where it started warming up, and so did the sandflies...will i ever learn...seems not.. I changed over to the ever faithful 4" Zman curl tail in New penny, and after only a few casts i had a few small taps which i failed to convert. Moving down a little i came upon a massive, and i mean massive school of herring, and second cast in, bump, and i was on to a solid fish, which straight away came to the top. Initially i thought barra, but then it screamed off in a scything run, the STx drag wailed in protest, at a million miles an hour.More sandflies buzzing,im looking like an electrocuted ninja fighting this fish. Scratch barra off the list, soon i saw the golden flanks of a nice Threadfin reflecting the early morning sun. After a short stubborn fight, broken by a couple more speedy runs, he hit the net. Couple of pics and he was dispatched into the esky for tomorrow nights dinner. As the tide started to run in, i nailed a few Grunter and a couple jew on a TT switchblade. Now the sandflies were really thick..i was hiding in my buff, they were in my ears, eyes, up my pants..Thankfully i had jocks on. More swatting..i fished on.. As the tide rose, i kept seeing these shiny things deep in the water column, which to my surprise turned out to be hundreds of Hairtail, then sharks and after that, a couple schools of metre plus threadys. I hooked a few, lost a few, got a couple, and eventually got what i crave every trip, a Blue salmon, Grabbing the plastic on the drop, then cartwheeling across the surface, more blistering runs,a few more jumps and headshakes and he was done, finally swimming away from the shallows and into the waiting net. Man i love catching these things. I was stoked. Couple more casts, a nice flatty, and i had had enough. Mostly of the sandflies..was still an awesome day though...

Awesome and good on you for feeding the sandflies.
Now, I'm not saying we should invoke capital punishment for Stupidity, but how about we just take all the warning labels off everything and let nature sort itself out?
