A couple of nights down the Straits

Brother-in-law and I are planning a couple of nights swagging in the boat down the Straits in a couple of weeks.
Not sure exactly -- German, Mudlow or maybe Fraser Is creeks - will take it as it comes and see what the wind/weather is doing when we get there.
Any reports from the general area -- fish or crabs - what can we expect?

Make Bushman's top of your list of things to take, sand flies can eat a small child in minutes. Other than that wonderful place.

Yea. They are back with a vengeance. Still a bit of a mixed bag getting around.

And mosquito stuff too if midgie stuff no good they are friendly too should find a few flatties around the entrances of creeks

It will be well and truly flathead central by then. Oh and sandfry central too

Don't forget the all yr round flies too they surely aren't March flies up there.

I'd be scanning the edges of flats this time if the yr for trevs and salmon too........keep an eye out for bustups.

Been getting some good flatties and whiting in whai i believe is called charltons gutter basicly go out of maaroom to the last red becon turn towards hervey bay head towards the 2 little islands about 200 yards from the islands are 2 gutters empty to about a foot deep on low tide last 2 and a half hour of the run out for whiting then walk the gutters throwing placcies for flatties
