    Default Solo Sessions

    Hi all,
my weekend started with work Saturday morning(Booooo) then lazing around saturday arvo, and Jode working nights
at ED on sat night, so she got home sunday morning,we had some breakky and she headed for a sleep. At this point i decided bugger the forecast,
15-20 SE, how bad can it be..so i hooked the poly up, fueled up, grabbed some refreshments and pushed to tub in around 9 am. Being little tides i wasnt too hopeful, but it wasnt too bad of a day, so i cruised around steadily down the straits.

First stop, a little tailor on the 2.5 Grubz, then another, when the line on my reel broke. Upon inspection it was rotten, so luckily i had some spare and proceeded to re-spool
..happy days...Picturing me unwinding 125 yds of 6lb braid, up a sandfly ridden creek, no breeze, beer was cold
..doing a little happy dance. Ready to go i headed down towards one of Dids fave Grunter spots, hoping that nobody
was around in case his secret spot was discovered, id never live it down. First few casts.....Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....pi ng...busted off,

then a little cod....Bzzzzzzzzzzzz...more bust offs. Then a litle trevally, good fun on the light gear. Next cast i was ht on the drop, i struck, and out of the water spun a metre of magnificent.....Black tip shark..FFS....busted off again. I reckon i hooked 10 of these hooers for the day, same result every time...

They ended up eating a nice barra that i hooked as it jumped the first time...There were plenty of swear words used. I think i even made up a few new ones... Pushing up a bit further i came across a few school size threadys, good fun, using 2.5" grubz in watermelon red, and 4" streakz in New Penny, bagged a few, one which was bleeding i kept for the table. As the tide started pushing in the 2.5 was hit on the drop and a nice little barra cartwheeled out the water, no sharks in tow...it was actually probably too shallow for an attack.

Few curly moments around the leccy and in the net it went. Couple pics and it swam away so Dids can have a crack when the bugs ease off. Ended up with a bit of a mixed bag, but kept me busy most of the day, home by 2 was a great day on the straits, weather was pretty good cruising home blowing the froth off a beer, wondering if Dids secret spot is still a secret. FInished the day with a Crown and a camp oven roast...Lovin life...Till MOnday..

Great work Chewy, love the tale and the pics are brilliant. Houghie was telling me they were catching good Threadys down past Stewart.

    Good day's effort .
How good is the ramp now the upgrade is done Chewy? Would I get my rig in and out OK?
Now, I'm not saying we should invoke capital punishment for Stupidity, but how about we just take all the warning labels off everything and let nature sort itself out?

Hi mate, yea. It's a good ramp. I wouldn't try right at low tide, it's still a bit shallow. Allow 1.5 hours from river heads tides to give you an idea. But the ramp itself is good.
