    Default Thanks for good mates

A mate took me fishing today and we planned to do some snag bashing.

We hit the water at office hours and started out flicking some isolated snags in very shallow water. There was masses of bait around which ranged from tiny herring to 21-30 prawns to big mullet. So I tried a prawny while my mate used a yozuri 3d lipless crank.

We preceded to catch some stonking flathead which were rooster tailing in the shallow water. I managed a beautiful barra which took the prawny without hesitation. Barra on the flats is probably the most fun place to catch them, as they jump, rooster tail, and go hard and fast. It is also a very visual form of fishing. We then went hunting salmon and both came tight to sight cast fish but failed to keep hooks in them. Probably due to the tight drag we like to run on salmon.

It was a great morning and with any luck my tinny might be fixed and I can repay the favour to my mate.

I used my mossyback rod matched to a freams real, running ten lb fins braid to 50lb hard rock fish.
