    Default The Jackoff..my take.

So Pete and i rolled in around 3pm from Kinchant, tired, sore ass from the long slow drive, to be greeted by Dids, smiling as always, camp setup, was good to crack a beer, sit, and do nothing. Said G'day to the boys, met the two Nicks, Did i mention we had a beer. The lads went for a fish, we went got food, and had another beer. Hit the sack early, and listened to the rain. Up early, we headed up the creek. Things were quiet for a while till we headed over a rockbar and the decky got a fish on a slow rolled Swimmerz/Snakelockz combo, then another one, then another one. Here we go again.

Anyways..finally i got one, and then sitting at a rockbar slowly rolling a Calico Candy 3" my rod bent over, i struck, and soon had my first ever Juvenile QLD grouper in the boat. A couple quick snaps and away it went after spewing rotten crab all over me and the boat. Heading back after showing Dids a gun spot(at which he proceeded to hit something with his lure) when around the corner we came across Mike, waving us over, he had a feisty little jack in the yak...and a broken rod.

Smiles all round and a quick pic and away it swam. Oh well, they are still making rods....apparently.

Saturday night was a good feed, few beers round the fire, Gaz had turned up, so some yarns were told, beers spilled and logs burnt. Into the bunk, more rain, up at midnight checking my mooring efforts(clearly sorted by an electrician). Out sunday morning for no love, in the rain, we pulled out and packed, wet and soggy, bailing early as 9 days swagging had taken its toll(not the 10 cartons).

Was good to catch up with everyone again, congrats to Nick on the win, petes fish was close but no cigar. Thanks again to Dids, was a good one again, and we might try get up again soon. Its a cracking bit of water. Pity Barra season has closed as we found crap loads, and as it turned out should have fished them..anyway always next trip.
