    Default Passage Popping

    hi all
i have been exploring and fishing the creeks of the Bribie passage a bit over the last couple months for some mixed results. Plenty of species caught but not a lot of quality.
Today i fished one of the creeks with Tony (mangajack) in his boat and the plan was to try and pick up a few good whiting on poppers. Early on there was plenty of action with several small whiting and average bream being boated, when we made a move a bit further upstream and started to see some big fish moving around and following our lures.
I had a really good strike to see a big whiting quickly drop the hooks, so I cast the popper straight back in its direction on the following cast and hooked up to my PB popper caught whiting bang on 40cm, a few casts later landed one slightly smaller and not long after Tony was onto one similar size also. Things went quiet as the tide turned and started to run back in. All in all was a great little early session and a load of fun on the light gear. Thanks again to Tony for another great morning on the water.
    Cheers

    Good report Deano.
Going to have to target these size fish exclusively in the next month or so.
With about 6 inches clarity yesterday it was surprising the fish rose to the surface in a metre of water.
Hopefully the storms will miss that catchment over the next month or so.

Nice fish. Whiting on poppa is on my 'to do' list. Can't think of a nicer tasting fish, and a great way to catch them.
    Well done.
