OK OK I know, been ages since I got to post a trip report. Been very busy with kids, work moving house, life etc. I actually have been fishing but just haven't landed anything worth writing about. Flatty's have been very sporadic up our way in the last 6 months. I think I only landed a couple over or the winter. Anyway, excuses excuses etc and all that.
So I slipped out on boxing day on he yak to witness a great sunrise a big moon setting in the wet with a run out tide. Perfect for flattys to start to chew. We had a bit of overnight rain and I felt that would stir them up a bit. Turned out I was right. I launched at 4:30am and had my first keeper in the bag by 4:45am and two keepers by 5am. There was a lot of bait about with some small birds bomb diving the jelly prawns skipping about. All up I landed 15 in a few hours and dropped a couple as well. Took a couple home for a feed and headed in to continue the pleasurable task of unpacking.
The next morning I was up and at 'em again same bat time same bat channel. Did not and as many as the day before however I did pull in a nice 74cm big girl that realy gave me some fun o the light gear
Any way, new years resolution is to get back on the water more regularly
Here s a bad pic of the big girl
