About four months ago my old uncle gave my youngest daughter Abbey a pair off binoculars and ever since she has been obsessed with bird watching. The one she has been trying to find was the azure kingfisher, he's the little purple and orange fellow you see around the mangroves, or so she tells me. I told her perfect, you can scan the mangroves and I can look for a jack . The sun was just starting to come up as we snuck into the creek all the while Abbey was looking for her feathered friends. I was first on the board with a couple off cod then a little jack, still no kingfisher. After another Jack, Abbey spotted a fat scrub turkey which followed with another two more Jacks
Abbey let out a squeal as she had spotted her kingfisher and for the next 20 minutes we followed him up and down the creek so Abbey could get her photo. Finally the little bugger stayed still and she got her shot, she was happy with her bird and I was happy with my Jack tally, although not big ( 40cm) they were fun. I knew my luck would have to run out and our last spot I got done big time. On a brighter note Abb found another bird on her list - a dollar bird which she tells me comes down from New guinea. My response to her " that doesn't make up or my lost lure !!!!!"
