    Default I saw red

Hey folks. Just did a hectic 3 week hitch at work so was in need of some r and r, so what's better than forgetting about the rigours of work than getting up at 0130 and heading up the hiway. After spending 21 days with men I decided to do it solo, a casual outing with a dozen summers,

As as for the fishing. If small cod are your thing you'd be a happy man. They were every where mudflats, rocks, shallow deep it didn't mater, over the 3 tides I fished probably 35 cod come aboard, Got a nice flatty and a 10 or so undersized grunter, a few big bream, and a couple of nice jacks, first one was a run of the mill specimen at 420mm, On a prawn imitation, And the second was a particularly good one, at 540mm, on a prawn imitation aswell. He gave me quite the run around on my conventional jack tackle of 8 pound braid and 10 pound Fluoro leader. I did have another encounter with a red bream that was visually spectacular in knee deep water, but I didn't get a hook in to him, the plastic folded back on to point of the hook, so bit unlucky there. He was another good one, around 50 I spose,

Once the tide started to run again I thought I'd go work some deep drop offs with soft vibes, got a few grunter doing this, I marked a few good fish in one spot, so worked that area and I'm tipping I came across a little school of Jew, the way they would engulf my vibe, I'd have them on for 5 seconds or so then rub me off on 30 pound fluoro, I scratched 4 samaki's in about 10 casts, Every now and then we come across this, a patch of good fish that smoke you, We got one to the boat a while ago that we got fair in the mouth, turned out to be a Jew around a metre, So I'm leaning toward that, although it will remain a mystery,

Yeah cheers all. Always nice to get a couple of jacks early in the season. The Barra were quiet though which was a shame. But we can't have every thing I spose.

Good reds mate. The Barra I have heard about have been holding further up. Not sure why they haven't dropped yet.
