    Default Sydney Longtail Hunt

So one of the problems with social media is you see stories and they get you thinking.
One of the rumours that kept appearing was the presence of good size longtail around Sydney heads stitching up blokes geared up for rat kings and bonito.
Then the fish (or maybe the stories) made their way inside and were busting up and frustrating a few fluff chuckers who couldn't get their casts out quick enough when they came up.
Nek minnit I see my usual guide had a late cancelation. So I thought go on then I deserve it.
Once you're out there actively looking for fish that shouldn't really be there - and you see no sign of them - you start to feel a bit stupid...
Luckily I got a decent legal king on a stickbait.
And the rat population made a fair dent in the livebaits.
As well as landing the biggest tailor I think I've ever seen. So thick. And dropped one much bigger based on the jawline that decapitated a large yakka.duk.jpgduc.jpg

Thats a great Taylor for Sydney John, well done.
As for those fabled Longtails I recon more Spottys, Spanish and Cobia have come in previous years then those buggars.

I've heard 'confirmation' of the longtails from who I think are trustworthy people. It's not so hard to believe as they show up in numbers in Port Stephens around this time of year quite often. More believable than dogtooth in Jervis bay anyway
Had smoked tailor for afternoon tea and again for dinner. Still a whole fillet untouched in the fridge!
