Default Hints and tips for Stanage Please?

Well, Debs has decreed that come the warmer months we are road tripping north with tinny in tow.
Her conditions are cabin or house accomadation, and lots of mud crabs.
Im thinking Stanage, can anyone offer some real world info on accom, crabbing and fishing up there. Ill be in the Hornet, 4 mts with a 40.
Open to any other ideas, just has to have mudcrabs to keep the pelican, I mean missus, happy

    http://www.stanagebay.com/index.html
plenty of info in the stanage bay website.
I have fished the area on about a dozen trips.....normally above average fishing can be had.
Have fished it twice where we have pulled out on the end of the second day having explored all options for nil result.

To be honest, the area gets a lot of attention these days, it is only a matter of time before it is raped enough to resemble Hervey Bay's capture rates.

My next visit to the area for fishing will be the western feeders to Broad Sound.....might be muddy and shallow but might still produce well.

Gee - for all the research I've done over the years Stanage seems to be one of the most over rated fishing destinations - particularly if you only have a small boat (True - some good long range fishing can be had with a bigger boat - or you have a mother ship) Destroyed boat trailers & a long slow trip all being par for course...... tides & wind add to the challenge. I've spoken to many about the place & nope .... no one offered a compelling case .
For the time it would take you to get to Stanage (plus an hour or so ) ..... I swap it for the Whitsundays which is much more user friendly with plenty of options in and around the area (crabbing & fishing)
I'm sure you could also find plenty of options around Rocky / Yeppoon if you didn't want to go that far & you can get great access to go crabbing in the Curtis / Balaclava Is area

Camping on Hummocky Hill Island is a good option and much closer.
Good crabs in all the feeder creeks.
    Access from Tannum Sands.

I love my camping, but debs idea of camping under the stars is a 5 star hotel...
