    Default The Don And I

Word on the street is that The Don is fishing OK, so slipped up this morning for a look. The amount of scales at the cleaning table at the ramp is always a good indication of what's happening, plenty there this morning.
Dropped a few pots into Glassy on the way thru, then headed up to my flathead spot to fish the last of the run out. I was after a feed of fish today, more so than the usual C&R stuff.
Perfect morning, and the flatones were on fire. Did my bag easy enough, landed and released a donkey at 73, picked up a Luderick on a Prong, plus the usual by catch of under size lizards, Bream, Moses etc.
Pulled the pots on the way home, first pot nada, second pot a nice legal rusty buck, third pot had 2 of the biggest jennies I've ever seen, back they went.
A nice morning all things considered, good to be on the water.

Luderick on a Prong, hooked in the face so I suspect a side swipe, had me scratching my head during the fight

I used to think luderick bycatch was unusual, but they come up regularly enough that I think we underestimate how predatory they are. Well, omnivorous/opportunistic anyway... Small placcies and, surprisingly, little vibes see us pick up a few every year around here. Almost always pinned in (or near enough) the mouth.

Nice B, waters are starting to clear a bit. I suspect the fishing is only going to improve unless we have more fresh.

I think you invoked the gods, lots more fresh through in the last few days, take a week for the stuff in the hills to filter through.

Gotta say that it’s lucky for Funchy and the fellas that you stay away from the flatty comps and let us mere mortals compete. Though I might get you as a deckie for the nest one
