    Default Russell River 03/09/06

The entrance to the Russell has produced some reasonable grunter for my brother and I over the past few weeks. These hit deadbaits aggressively, and are a reasonably easy target. The key is to find the right sandbars and fish during teh turn of tide. Heres a few pics

    Wow mate,

I have fished cairns a number of times and never been able to get onto this sort of fish.

Question - what sort of dead bait is the go for these fish?

Hey mate, the best dead bait for grunter is squid. They like soft baits, some others being mullet strips and peeled prawn.
