    Default Barron river 05/08/06

The barra should begin to feed more aggressively in the Barron with the onset of warmer temperatures this month. We have had some patchy barra action thru early August. Live baiting has produced some tarpon and king salmon action too. However, soft plastics worked slowly nearby feeding tarpon claimed one of my best barra, a 95cm fish (11kg). Caught on 14lb fireline.

Hey mate, don't really go there much these days, too much $$ in fuel. Done heaps of fishing down there. Plenty of options for barra fishin in Cairns area with less time wasted on the road.

We went back last night but couldnt recapture the success if the August trip. The only fish landed was a tarpon of about 1.8kg. Once again on squidgy...not a bad fight. Too bad the camaera didnt focus.
