Default Bread and MILKfish at Breakfast!!

Headed out into Darwin harbour for a spot of Milkfishing. After arriving about an hour and a half before the top of the tide and getting a bread berly going I managed to get them feeding at the back of the boat. After a few hit and misses I manged to nail this beauty on 3kg line, my first ever Milkfish.

First time poster on the site. Site looks the goods!!!

Gday mate, welcome to the site.

Great to see you catching the mighty milky.

They are finicky buggers arent they - what sort of miss rate do you have, if any? - meaning a lot of them come up and shy to the bread etc?

    Cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome mate!!

Up here at the particular place that I went, they are quite happy to come to the back of the boat and feed. They actually get fed at a boat ramp down from the spot (its a bit of a touristy thing) so there not real shy, but watching them it looked as though they were a bit sus on the leader!! I think I had them suck half a dozen bits of bread off the hook before I got one. I think if I scaled down the leader line to about 10kg it may not have been such a problem!!

CrbBrb, it is great to have you on board.

That would be awesome to have them feeding out of your hands so to speak.

What sort of hooks are you using for Milkfish?

You are a lucky fella to be fishing in some of the best of the best fishing areas.

    Cheers

welcome to the site crbbrb and nice looking fish there.

I would definately try going down in leader size and using a flourocarbon leader. Costs a little more but you will find a higher catch rate.

Even berkley fireline crystal down to the hook would be worth a go.

What size and sort of line are you using now?

PS: What sort of digi camera are you using also - nice clear pics there.

    Cheers.

    GT,

Thanks for the welcome!! The tips you've given have been noted and I'll give them a go in the future!! I was using 3kg mono platapus pretest!!

The Digi Camera is a little beauty, it a Sony Cybershot 4.2 megapixel and 3x optical zoom!! I'll post some more stories from the not so distant past and you can have a look at the great quality it gives!!

    Anyways thanks fellas,
