    Default Prawnarama

Jumped on the run of Bananna prawns at Pimpama this morning...Good Friday crowds in excess of 40 boats in the size of a footy feild but the prawns were a plenty with most boats getting there limit of I bucket per person (apx 7.5kg) of 8"+ Bannana Prawns.

It was an early start from the Gold Coast (4am) 45 min drive to the hidden ramp and then another 30min cruise to the prawns .They didn't come on for a couple of hours untill they raised from the mud and then all hell broke loose All the boats were scattered but when someone hit the mother load all the boats zeroed in on them like a feeding freny of tuna on a bait school....you were touching the boat next to you as he launched his net , it was a top day and the atmosphere was great with no agro.

Here are a few of the shots I took today.....

Choice catch there Rob. I'd feel jealous any other time except today, my son shouted me lunch at The Big Fish, where he works as a chef, and I chose garlic cream prawns. Yumbo, Mum got spoiled today . Top feed. Hope you get to enjoy yours just as much.

I am well and truely prawned out now after 3 days of eating nothing but prawns...well peeled about 3 kilos green and boiled the rest 10 at time because they were so big and we could'nt keep the heat up. After many beers we had a cooking comp on the greenies , garlic , lemon pepper , chilli but the best one was late in night: Olive oil , garlic , lemon, butter, cracked pepper and to the dismay of my wife Belinda about 1/4 of a bottle of Goundrey Chardoney I tried a few testers and they were'nt that flash so I sat down and had another beer while the wine reduced down then I threw the prawns in for few minutes put them on a plate and they were devoured. They just melted in your mouth. The last couple days we have had 3 different prawn curry dishes and just pan fried with lemon plus we had some in the good ole "Crumb In One" when they are this fresh they all taste great . They are all gone now might be time for a steak.....

rob, certainly one thing we are left out in the cold with! we get a few prwns down here but nothing of the ilk of that! we net them one at a time what i would give to be able to fling a cast net under pressure...
