Default Tas Bream Classic - Rd 1

Round 1 of the Bream Classic was held on the weekend at Georges Bay - St Helens, and it proved to be very tough indeed (For some!)

I fished with one of my good mates, Benny and we SAW Bream on saturday but they saw us quite easily too! Most fish we saw were cruising along solo, just mooching about but they were very flighty. Saturday was very bright, sunny and calm, whereas Sunday was the opposite - quite windy at times and overcast with some rain.

23 Bream were caught between 32 anglers on Saturday, and only 9 Bream on Sunday!

I think the late tide played a big part, seemed like some fish were just coming on the chew around weigh in time, if you could find them! A comp from 10am - 5pm would have been much better suited

However, when times are tough the angler must get tougher - and therefore, hats off to Nick and Dan who managed their bag of 10 on saturday, and also 2 upgrades!! " Nick Martin and Dan Clifton put their winning bag down to the lures they were using which were Daiwa SC Shiners fished with extra long pauses and big rips." Quote from bream.com

Well done to everyone else that caught Bream, I think the 2 biggest fish I saw weighed in were both 1.38kg each.... not bad.

Me and partner Ben, along with another boat, kind of got over it and played with some schools of Salmon landing 40-50 in a short period.... and the odd Mollyhawk! (Insert rolling eyes here!) It was cool to feel some decent fish on.....
