    Thumbs up Flats Mecca

Do you like big bream? I love ‘em!

I was craving some good line buzzing action on my nitro and also a break from the drain of work. Having a friend that has a house in Walpole has it’s benefits and after a plead to use their premise me and a good mate were on our way.

We had three days to wade and for three days we waded. We only stopped breaming at midday each day to eat, drink and taste some honey wine or walk amongst tingles.

The weather on the first day was dark, windy and rainy which equalled a killer session with constant bends in our flicks. The second and third day the weather fined up with more sun and less wind. This made the bream timid but we still pulled them in and then let them go. Altogether it was a ripper three days with the tally of bream lost after 50.

We used mostly hardbodied Asian lures to get the blackies to bight in the tannin water, with the plastics nowhere as good. Also bigger lures got big fish with 65mm lures responsible for some nice ponies.

Nice going there Pete. Good set of fish, and the bigger lures defifnitely seem to produce the goods.

Ya gotta love it when you consistently smack a few Bream around

Any 'Go-to' lure doing the job well atm?

I used the good old ecogear sx40's and sx48's a bit and Zipbaits in many models. The Zipbait Orbit 65MR-S is definetly a lure i want to get a few more off!

Beevor, it's in the 5th, 6th and 9th pic. The one in the 4th pic is the Raphael, a nice twitching and lift-drop lure.

Once again Pete some great fish. That walpole area has been getting some raps in the media over the last few seasons.

Hard bodies seem to be the lure of choice over there.

    Cheers

Yep, Walpole is known for it's top fishing. Hb's are the go.
