    Default Unexpected Flathead

    Hi all

Here's a pic of a nice lizard which I trolled up on the weekend. It was taken on a 20+ Scalerazza while deep trolling some rocky bottom for estuary cod. It put on quite a performance and had me fooled into thinking that I had hooked a nice sized cod before it surfaced.
Size wise, that's a 70 litre long esky, and it went corner to corner. On the measure it made roughly 85cm. Weight wise, I estimate around the 5 kilo mark as it was very thick through the body. Sorry the pic doesn't really show it the best but I was fishing on my own and it is hard to get good pics of a fish like this when you are trying to release it in good condition. All I could do was snap a couple of quick shots and then put her back.
    A nice fish!

    Nice Croc!!

Wish we regularly got big Lizards in our Estuaries down here. Have caught some big fellas at my old mans up in Lake Macquarie, and managed to lose a couple estimated at 1m+....

As you say, a nice surprise!!
