Default Talina (T) Barras & Cod.

    Hi All,

Well, Talina sent me some pictures, and I think they are worth putting up on the site for all those barra fisherman.

    Check em out.

This is a big cod that I pulled up on 6kg out at Bowling Green one afternoon - I can happily say that fortunately he swam away strongly.

On a trip up to Pormpuraaw, Cape York a few years back the boat we were traveling with called us over & showed us this beauty that they had found floating on the surface - After further inspection it was a 131cm Barra which had try to eat a 42cm Grunter & chocked on it. The barra was dead but the grunter was still breathing which suggest it had only just happened - Proof shows that the lures & bait we use is to small!!! (2 x photos with this)

Just a average size Pormuraaw barra - We caught 106 of these in 7 days between 2 of us!! - not a bad trip at all!

Casino Wall Barra - On a calm night we quite often troll the walls around the harbour - I caught his 102cm beauty right in front of Jupiters Casino (lights in the back ground)

Holroyd River (Just South of Arakuun) -We caught this one on a late afternoon trolling session on one of the several deep banks in the Holroyd.

    Chewy....

What a great set of shots. Looks like you really get into the thick of things up there in Townsville.
That's amazing how the barra choked on its dinner eh?

    Keep 'em coming.

I can proudly say that all the above barra over 100cm were successfully released...

Its a gentleman's rule up here in NQ that we let all the big girls go so we can have allot more barra in the future

& plus I can Embarrassingly say...As much as I Looove my fishing, I'm not a big fish eater anyway!!!

mate Townsville is far from fished out,if you wanted to you can still bag out on most species if you no the spots but you do need to keep them a bit quiet cause if the eski fillers get onto them there stuffed.cheers

    Hey Craig,

I haved fished Townsville my whole life & I have never had problems findind fish, no matter what the species...Over the years I have learnt that the most imortant rule of fishing the area is "Knowing your fishery"...The more you know about your fishery (tides, moon etc, etc) the better your catch!!

& don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, ok!!!
