    Default Breamin' the Classics

    Hi all....

Just wanted share a few words and pics about the Tas Bream Classics.

Round 1 was on the infamous Derwent River in early Jan, and the Bream were very cooperative! With the average Bream weighing a little over 1kg, it's no wonder the system has such a reputation.

Benny and I were stoked to place where we did (6th) and more than happy to double-bag on the Derwent. Day 2 started off pretty tough for us, but Ben started smashing them on the Atomic Hardz and we were away I stuck with the Daiwa Presso and Zipbaits. Benny actually pulled a 43cm PB Bream on pre-fish that weighed close to 2kg Absolute pig of a fish and would have been very handy during the comp! Good work son!

Tassie guru's Leigh McKenzie (angling addict on here) and Pat Sullivan took out the event, which was pretty close by Derwent standards.

Just to give you an idea on comparison, so Bream on the right was 37cm to the fork, which is generally fairly acceptable anyway!! Certainly would have been Big Bream during the comp.

Round 2 was held on the Swan River, during a heat wave! We awoke on pre-fish and were sweating at 4:30am! Temperature got to around 41deg whilst we were on the water, it was like someone had a blow dryer on your face!

Benny and I hit the water early on pre-fish...... too early in fact, it was too dark to see where we were going, so we opted to have a flick up river while waiting for the light. Benny was flicking around a surface lure and it got smashed..... Zzzzzz.... Bream?? Nope, just a Trevor!!

Ticked over to 5am and I reckon the temperature was flirting around the mid 20's already We manily focused on polarioding likely flats and throwing a few different lures. Benny drew some interest on surface, so we kept that in mind. We landed 2 Bream on pre-fish and that was enough, it was too flippin' hot! We anchored up toward the mouth and quickly turned the Skeeter into a dive board. Our attractive bodies drew tournament anglers from miles away, just to catch a glimpse

Day1 - We headed to our go-to spot where we had landed a fish and 'roided many more. A dozen or so casts into the day and Benny gets some interest on surface..... "There's a boil..... ooh, there he goes..... BOOF!! Got him!! Yeeeooow. Soon after and I'm on aswell. Had a lot of fun on surface throughout the day, and got our bag plus several upgrades but only by small amounts. We headed to a couple of back up spots to upgrade but failed.

BBQ - Saturday night was fun. Thanks to the boys for rigging it up, it was great to yarn about all things fishy (and other topics ) with like-minded peoples. Oh yes, and we got pi$$ed.

Day2 - We dragged our rusty heads out and tried to deciper the last few memories, and where the heck Byrneout got that chair from Similar plan as day1. Go-to spot produced the goods again - all on surface, including some larger specimens of 37cm and 38cm respectively. Upgraded a few times but still had 2 x 32cm fish in the well that we couldn't upgrade. Our bite tapered off at around lunchtime too, and found it hard after then. Luckily enough, it was enough to see us at 5th, so we were very chuffed. Oh I caught a flounder on HB too!

Leigh and Pat took out this event also, the boys are guns! That's 3 Tas Bream classics on the trot!

The last round is held on the Scamander River on Tassie's East Coast in late March. It's shaping up to be an aewsome event, and I'm struggling to contain myself. I wonder if Leigh and Pat can continue their trend? Will someone pip them at the post? Will Benny and Beevor get up..... Na, big call Very much looking forward to it though. Stay tuned.
