    Default Krill in Mackay??

    Gday guys,
Had a quick seshion with the old man this morning down at East Point. On arival I noticed a red patch in the water for about 3mm along the edge of the rock wall. On closer inspection it was a few trillion krill! I've never seen these little fellers in Mackay and was wondering if any AA's have? With Maltese in our blood, we decided to give em a taste test. Very sweet and very delicate...they were suprisingly good!

    Cheers guys,
    TH

PS - How'd you go down there today Neil??

Brook...me neither mate, I always thought they were like an Antarctic species or something?!

Pete...oath it does. She was a big one that one, up around 25cm accros the bell...a sure killer by anyones standards.

    Jeff...its good gear aye mate!

Benno...there was heaps or herring patroling the frindges of the school. I would have thought there'd have been bream and moses perch smashing into them everywhere...but no?!

I have heard of this before but never seen it, thanks for the photo.

While there's plenty of tucker around for them the Boxies will still have to be kept in mind when wading!!

After the great weather we've had all week I was really looking forward to getting out there today. Unfortunately it was a little sloppy out the front but nothing too bad, the cloud cover made spotting anything almost impossible and the water too the south is still murky.......other than that it was a good day out

There is some stud Flathead in the river at the moment - judging by the ones I disturbed

    Jeff.

Sounds like we got another maltesser among us. Hi

That's interesting Isaac. I have only come across Krill once here in Melbourne. I will never forget it. It was just outside Port Phillip Bay heads. And there was acres and acres of this pink stain in the water right on the surface...Didn't know what it was till closer inspection. I remember there was a heap of activity around it also with salmon and tommy rough smashing the surface all around...not to mention all the bird activity from the above.
I'm Maltese as well...but it didn't enter my mind to go taste them. Hehehe

Neil...I noticed you put in a bit of time on the sand bar just past the beacon. Something must have kept you on your toes mate! The big breeding flatties will be making their way down to the mouth as the water cools down. Good time of the year to nail a PB. You been fishing the dams much mate? Joels little brother nailed a 98cm barra on 10lb fins at Kinchant last weekend on a little fluro Bomber.

Joe...It was certainly a new experience for me too! An interesting one at that. Next time you see them, get ya scoop out and a get a few handfulls of em. Take em home and very lightly cook them in some garlic and butter...then knock the whole lot down! Im sure they'd come up a treat cooked if they went down so well sashimi style!
