Default Not a Diamond, but a Pennant fish.

Had an early today and thought I'd chase a few more flatties on the run out tide. Didn't happen. I tried heaps of different spots, different lures, different methods, all for zilch.
Ok, off to do something else, chase some tailor and trevors. Again, didn't happen. The boys got into the Tailor on monday, in the rain, but they weren't there today. I saw a large school of Bigeye Trevally, tried everything on them but didn't get a hookup. Fussy buggers.
Keep persisting I say, then I hook up. A Bream of 29cm. He's released much to the disgust of some tossers in a nearby boat.
I then hookup again, this feels much better. After a little tussle I net a 49cm Jewie. The bloke in the nearby boat yells out, "mate, if you're gonna let that one go, I'll give you $5 for it!" I told him it was undersize, he didn't seem to care. What a fool.
Shortly after, I had another nudge on my 2'' Guzzler. It felt like a bream on steroids, but then I saw it was a beautiful Pennant fish. I've caught heaps of Diamonds before, but this was my first Pennant fish.
People get Diamonds and Pennants mixed up very easily, they are similar, but are easily told apart if you know your fish.
It was a pretty quiet day fish wise, weather was beautiful, caught a fish I'd never caught before, so I went home happy.
I'va also posted a pic of a Diamond Trevally, just so you can see the difference between the Pennant and the Diamond.

    Cheers, Jeff.

Yeah it could be difficult for the untrained eye hey Dids?
They are very different when you see each of them "in the flesh".
The Pennant has a rounder head than a Diamond, it has more trailing filaments and they are black rather than the Diamonds blue. They also have some hint of black vertical bars which are more prominent than a Diamond.
You might have to do what Kevie did Dids, and get Grant's out.

    Jeff.
