Default Dans day on the water

    Hi all,
Dad and i took my cousin out for a fish today because the only thing he wanted to do for his birthday was to go for a ride in a boat. The day started pretty slow with nothing being caught until we found a school of fish which happened to be tailor. We started off trolling to see if we could find them and after a bit of driving my cousin got onto his first tailor on his new rod and reel. After we found them we anchored up and started casting. Double hookups were not uncommon at all with two being caught on one lure at some stages. The main retrieve we used was just steady with every 2-3 winds giving it a flick. We used spin and baitcast, I was using a 2-4kg gladiator rod and 2500 fuego, dad was using a 1-3kg Egell with a 1000 size penn appluse and the new curado on a 4-7kg egrell, and dan (my cousin) was using a ABU black max and i have forgotten the rod. There were two main lures that were just working a treat were the berkley frenzy's and jacks pilly's all in green dad also used the whit jacks pilly and got a couple. The area we were fishing was in behind a rock ledge where there water was boiling and churning. We had a quick fish for a whiting and ended up with a feed of both whiting and tailor. The best thing to come out of the day was seeing Dan catch his first mackerel and tailor on his new combo.

    Cheers Andy
