    Default quickie under the bridge

Seabreeze.com.au forecast bugger all wind for the middle of the day and since I was only working a half-day, I was keen to hit the water. I walked out the door of my CBD workplace at 1.30pm and I had my Yak trolleyed down to the river just after 2pm. A slight breeze was blowing strait into my face and was a nice refreshment in the slightly humid conditions.
As I made my way closer to the bridge I started to make out a busload of school kids paddling a muck around the southern end of the structure. Bummer, that’s where I intended to jig. Luckily as I got closer they started to pack up and beach and flip their yaks in the shallows. I got to a pylon that wasn’t one of my favourites and quietly as possible dropped the anchor as there was a lot of current in the position I wanted to fish. A perfect cast, five jigs of the red and god blade and BINGO, I was on my first cast. A nice little rumble and the photo shot began of the 36er.

I was only out for a quick exercise and only gave the place a go for another forty minutes or so for 2 more hits, 2 screaming unknowns and 2 lost blades. Then at 3 o’clock the two ski boats increased to about twelve and it was time to go as screaming skiers dampen the serenity of a shaded pylon under a bridge.
