    Default The Mighty O'C

    G'Day all,

Me and a few mates went for a bit of a fish up the O'C (O'Connell River ~100km North of Mackay) on Sunday. Had a pretty good day considering we were landbased. The O'Connell is one of theose rivers we love to fish as there are no dams or weirs so the barra and jack can migrate right up into the fresh with no barriers. Started off right up the O'C in the fresh and managed a nice little barra of around 52cm (Caught on drop bear squidgy 100mm). After about another hour with no luck we moved down to the mor productive estuary and managed another little barra, legal jack, 4 nice flatty and a little GT. Here are some pics

    Cheers

Cheers for that guys, and yeh I think River Whalers are another name for Bully's. When you're heading North along the Bruce Highway, you get to the Caravan Park on your left (its on the banks of the O'C), well, just before the caravan park, turn left up Alf Casey Rd and drive your car to the river. From there we walked U/S a couple of hundred metres. There is a good sandbar which you fish from and there are rocky ledges on the other side of the river. The sand bar from which we fish from is where we get our flatty and the ledge has plenty of little jack and Barra amongst it. Good spot to get livies too
