    Keith, we have the structure scan mounted on a 4.2m tinny and it works well. Here's a shot of the transducers - the long one is the structure scan and it scans out left, right and down. The other transducer is for normal sonar.

    If you mount the transducers right they'll read the depth while on the plane and won't create a rooster tail.
    Sending in a photo of my home made transducer bracket. I am wary of crocs and stingers and my back is getting stiff as well. The length of the bracket is such that you can see if it up or down from the steering position. Could not buy a stainless sprung loaded locating pin only brass so had to make my own. The blue bit in the middle is to take any vibrations out on the road. Note the FG200 transducer and you can't get good paint these days - only lasts 30 yrs (Next years job)
