Hey Gladdy. Yeah I grew up in Gladstone and spent most of my younger days fishing the Calliope for Barra, Jacks, Salmon and what ever else came along. Caught some awesome fish there and had a great time. Brings back great memories. Thanks mate.

Gday Vermin finding it hard to find many jacks aroubd here only get the odd one every now and then. We catch more fingers than jack. I have caught more barra in gladstone than I have jack (not a bad alternative).

I once caught 2 juvenile Red Emperor fishing the 2nd bridge past the power station heading towards ICI. Couldn't believe it. Apparently the juveniles will sometimes hang out in the rivers. Only difference was the markings were brown instead of red. That particular spot used to produce some awesome fish, and some incredible bust offs. Had to fish it 1 hr either side of low tide though. Any other time - nothing.
    Cheers.
